Apple’s vision for the future of computing versus Microsoft’s vision for the future of computing.
Any questions?
A pretty well-reasoned argument as to why Apple’s infrastructure - Airplay, Bonjour, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad - is going to have a big impact on games in the living room.

As part of an experiment for my forthcoming book Brandwashed, I lined up 20 babies between the ages of 14 and 20 months. I then handed each one a BlackBerry. No sooner had their soft chubby fists reached out to take the phone from me than they touched the screen expecting it to light up. When nothing happened, a few stuck it in their mouths whilst others moved on to something more interesting.
These babies, all under two years old, have already been converted to the Apple brand.

How Tablets Looked Before and After the iPad
Since Apple introduced the iPad in January of 2010, the rest of its competition has been trying desperately to play catch-up. In a bid to “supercharge” the Android operating system, Googleannounced on Monday morning that it’s acquiring Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in cash. “This acquisition will not change our commitment to run Android as an open platform,” Google CEO Larry Page wrote in a blog post. “Motorola will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. We will run Motorola as a separate business.”
In instant reactions, Business Insider’s Joe Weisenthal called the move a “game changer,” noting that Google now “competes directly with Apple as well as the various other handset makers who currently use Android.” Techcrunch’s Robin Wauters noted the passage in Page’s post saying that it will “enable us to better protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies.” ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley also wrote that “Google execs cited patents as a key reason it is seeking to purchase Motorola.”
Apple Ready To Launch “Far Reaching” Video Service That Will Disrupt Traditional TV Business
Apple is on the cusp of launching a “a new far reaching cloud-based service” focused on video, writes Jefferies analyst Peter Misek in a big report this morning.
Misek says Apple will use its new massive data center in North Carolina to offer an advanced web-based video subscription product that rivals Netflix.
Full Story: Business Insider
Apple’s primary business is selling computing devices and related hardware, with healthy margins and tightly integrated experiences, to customers who generally replace them with the newest models every 1-3 years.
Marco believes that Apple is going to stay out of the tv business.
I have no idea if Apple will ship a hdtv.
But i do feel like the status quo needs disruption given all the ads we don’t watch, poor UI’s on set tops, forced bundling of content, dated content windows models, displays that are uninspired, tv that doesnt’ take advantage of the web or social data or experiences, nasty remote controls, confusing wiring and set up….the list goes on.
Someone needs to step up and make a change.
